Taranaki-raised Ben Shewry firmed up his place among the world’s best chefs with his Melbourne restaurant, Attica, being named 32nd best in the world.
Shewry jumped up one place from last year on the World's 50 Best Restaurants at an event in Melbourne.
No New Zealand restaurants made the top 50. Attica and Brae, both from Melbourne, are the only two Australian restaurants to make the prestigious list.
The top spot went to Manhattan’s Eleven Madison Park, bumping last year’s winner, Osteria Francescana in Italy, to second place. Past winner El Celler de Can Roca in Spain rounded out the top three.
