Jancis Robinson called it a “Kiwi love-in”. I think she meant that as a compliment. The acclaimed British wine writer and Pinot Noir NZ 2017 conference special guest said it was unusual at such a get-together for the word “burgundy” to get so little airplay, and for offshore producers (and their pinot) to be so scarce. She felt that this “95 per cent Pure New Zealand” approach could be summed up in a single word: confidence.
