The anomaly – make that “injustice” – at the heart of the New Zealand wine scene is this: those who make the best wine in the country often struggle to make ends meet, while the quantity-oriented, industrial players (who are focussed on producing large amounts of inexpensive Marlborough sauvignon blanc) are multi-millionaires.
