Seifried Estate Winery makes inroads into Russian market

Drinking “a fair bit” of vodka has helped seal a Russian deal for a Nelson winemaker.

Seifried Estate winemaker Chris Seifried is celebrating an export agreement with a Russian wine store chain that will see shipping containers of Nelson sauvignon blanc heading to Russia.

Seifried has been exporting its Old Coach Road and Seifried labels to Russia for four years. It’s sold at wine shops and sipped at restaurants.

But breaking into the Red & White chain, which has nearly 4000 stores spanning the country, is a major coup for the company.
