Does the change of season really make you sick?

Sniffles and colds have broken out across the country as spring set in, but don’t blame the change of season, the experts say. 

General Practitioners Council chair Dr Jan White says: "I think we are seeing a big, big peak at the end of winter that we usually see earlier in winter.“

She says winter was quieter than usual, and it’s like the tail has "come to beat us”.

“I can’t explain the delayed emergence. It’s not usual to see a peak like this at the change of seasons. I think it’s just one of those weird old things that happen with illnesses.”
