Waiters who hardly let you take a bite before grilling you on how you like the meal is one of dining out’s big annoyances.
It’s an awkward moment that breaks the flow of conversation. It’s meaningless, too, because most Kiwis just mutter “fine” and hope they go away.
That gripe came up often in an informal poll of Stuff Life and Style writers on what has bugged them while dining out in 2017.
Let’s be clear, the overall picture is good. Service and food is getting better and better as Kiwis follow the international trend of eating out more.
