A Kiwi mother living in the United Kingdom says she is lucky to be alive after she is believed to have lost her entire body weight in blood after giving birth.
Dr Sarah Palmer’s joy at the birth of her daughter soon turned into “terrifying” blood loss that left her needing six blood transfusions.
She gave birth to little Jacqueline Jean Hebbard on April 30, and her and partner Lee Hebbard took their new bundle of joy home the following day.
Less than a week later, Dr Palmer suffered complications from the birth and began hemorrhaging.
