OPINION: On Monday, in hospitality outlets up and down the country, out will come little signs near the till that say “you pay extra today”.
They will want a surcharge, usually 15 per cent, on everything bought.
I don’t understand why outlets still annoy customers in this way. I understand why they do it, but I don’t know why they don’t plan to not do it.
