A phallic eggplant up for auction on Trade Me raised eyebrows the world over, and even fetched a pretty penny for its owner.

But the erotic aubergine is not alone.
Trade Me has had seen all sorts of weird and wonderful fruit and veg cycling through its virtual auction house over the years.

And while they rake up a lot of views and interest, they're not a serious road to riches for any would-be mutant gardeners, said Trade Me spokesman Logan Mudge.
"What is awesome though, is that for the most part our members sell these items for charity."
